ABOUT THE WRITER
Mohammad Agus Salim is a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) research administrator with the CIFOR environmental services team based in Bogor, Indonesia. Before joining CIFOR in 2004, Agus worked as a consultant for several institutions, including the World Bank in Indonesia and Indonesia's Geospatial Information Agency (Badan Informasi Geospasial, formerly known as Bakosurtanal) in GIS, spatial database management and web mapping development projects. He earned a BA in geodetic engineering from Indonesia's Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 2002.
