ABOUT THE WRITER
Malaika Pauline Yanou is a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) and works with the COLANDS project (CIFOR). Her research focus is the contribution of local knowledge to implementing a landscape approach in Kalomo District, Zambia. This includes a particular emphasis on the role of various knowledge systems in knowledge production processes and understanding the politics of knowledge by addressing power relations. She holds a Master’s degree in International relations and diplomatic affairs from the University of Bologna (Italy) and an MSc in food security and development from the University of Reading (UK). She is interested in decoloniality studies and visual anthropology.
Previously, Malaika worked with CIFOR as research consultant on landscape approaches, restoration and food security issues.
