ABOUT THE WRITER
Kira Akka-Seidel is a master's student at Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service, concentrating in Science, Technology and International Affairs. Kira holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and has a background in climate policy and environmental education. An avid traveler, Kira has spent time living and working in India, Sri Lanka, and Costa Rica to promote experiential, environmental, technological, and cross-cultural education programs. Although she is now based in DC for graduate school, Kira is spending the summer in Lima, Peru to advance her Spanish language skills and assist CIFOR-ICRAF's studies on social and environmental safeguards for projects affecting Indigenous Peoples and local communities. Upon earning her master's degree, Kira aims to use her experience to accelerate climate action on an international scale.
