ABOUT THE WRITER
Alice Karanja is a Post-doctoral Fellow at ICRAF. Her research interests focus on use of mixed methods and transect approaches to understand drivers of food choices and the role of agrobiodiversity, neglected and underutilized species, wild foods, and rural-urban linkages on diets and nutritional outcomes.
Before joining ICRAF, she worked as a Project Researcher at the Institute for Future Initiatives (IFI), University of Tokyo, Japan where she was involved in assessment of sustainability impacts of small-scale aquaculture and fisheries projects in developing countries. Alice obtained her PhD from the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science – Global Leadership Initiative (GPSS-GLI) at the University of Tokyo, Japan (2019). She holds MSc from The Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand (2014) and BSc from Moi University, Kenya (2012).
