ABOUT THE WRITER
Peter Kanowski is Deputy Director General, Science - Cross Cutting & Impact at the Center for International Forestry Research, where his responsibilities include science quality, capacity development, and the Evidence Based Forestry initiative. Through the EBF initiative, CIFOR is working with partners to strengthen the quality of research conclusions relevant to policy and practice. Prior to joining CIFOR, Peter was Professor of Forestry at the Australian National University, and a Lecturer at Oxford University’s Forestry Institute, where his research focused on forest governance and practices, smallholder forestry, and planted forests.
