She has held teaching and research positions in various universities and worked at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in Jersey, where she was responsible for conservation science activities for the organization. Currently she is professor of Biodiversity and Human Development at Britain's Manchester Metropolitan University. She is a senior research associate at CIFOR.
